How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal works by pulsing high-intensity light onto hair follicles to destroy the hair root and prevent it from growing back. Dr. Averilla customizes your laser treatment based on the location, thickness, and color of your hair to avoid discomfort on sensitive skin while effectively destroying hair at the roots.
During your procedure, you’ll wear light-blocking glasses to protect your eyes. Your body hair will be trimmed down as needed to allow easier access to the roots. Dr. Averilla will press the handheld wand against your skin and pulse the laser on and off.
When the laser is turned on, you may feel a mild warming or snapping sensation – like a rubber band – on your skin. Once your procedure is over, you can return to your normal activities, though you may want to use ice or ibuprofen if your skin is sore.
