Acupuncture

People throughout the Las Vegas area suffer from pain for a multitude of reasons. Did you know that a medical spa can provide you with the treatment you need to get rid of your pain? For many generations, the Chinese have used acupuncture as an effective way to relieve pain and fix many different conditions.

This treatment method has been adopted around the world as an alternative measure to invasive procedures. Chinese medicine explains this method as a way to balance the flow of energy throughout the body. This is known as “qi” or “chi.” Energy is rebalanced by inserting very thin needles, or other tools, on specific pressure points, which activates the body’s natural painkillers, alleviating your pain long term.

What Can Acupuncture Treat?

Acupuncture is used to treat a multitude of problems and pain. It can remedy pain due to many different factors, including:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Dental Pain
  • Migraines or Frequent Headaches
  • Labor and Postpartum
  • Back Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Arthritis
  • Menstrual Pain

This is only a small sample of the conditions that can be treated by acupuncture. Many other chronic diseases and physical ailments can also be relieved through this alternative method.

Risks

If you receive treatment from a trained professional, there is very little risk associated with acupuncture. As with any treatment, there can always be side effects. The risks of acupuncture include:
The patient may be sore or experience minimal bleeding and/or bruising.
If the needles that are used are not sterile, there is a risk of infection.
Receiving acupuncture treatments from a nonprofessional could result in an organ injury.
There are conditions which would eliminate a person as a good candidate to receive acupuncture treatments. These treatments could significantly increase the potential for adverse effects from the procedure:

  • Bleeding Disorders
  • Heart Conditions
  • Pregnancy

Personal information

You will have a pre-evaluation to ensure that you are a good candidate for acupuncture and to prepare an individualized treatment plan. Most patients receive two treatments per week, though each treatment schedule can vary depending on the type of condition that is being treated. The treatment involves needle insertion, needle manipulation and needle removal. Acupuncture pressure points are located throughout the body, and some patients may be asked to remove articles of clothing.

If this is a necessity, a robe or sheet will be provided for modesty. The needles that are used are very thin, causing little to no pain. There may be mild aching as the needle reaches the correct position. Heat or mild electrical pulses is often used in addition to the needles. Clients lay on the table for 10 to 20 minutes while the needles are in their body. Removing the needles is normally painless.

Since acupuncture has very few side effects, it is a great alternative to traditional pain management measures.
