How Often Should I Get Botox® Injections?

How Often Should I Get Botox® Injections?

So, you’ve tried Botox® (or you’re thinking about it) and now you’re wondering how often you should get it. Botox is one of the most popular treatments in the aesthetic world, but knowing the right schedule for your injections can make a big difference in the results you see and how long they last.

Divina Averilla, MD, and our team at Love Your Body Medical Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada, outline everything you need to know about how often to get Botox and what to expect along the way.

What does Botox actually do?

Botox works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles. Its most popular use is to soften lines on the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes (crow’s feet).

The effects typically start to show within 3-7 days after your treatment, with full results settling in around two weeks. But here’s the thing: Botox doesn’t last forever. It’s a temporary fix, though a very effective one.

How long does Botox last?

For most people, Botox lasts around 3-4 months. Some might see it wear off a little sooner, especially during the first few sessions. Others may enjoy results for up to six months, particularly after consistent use.

There are a few factors that affect how long Botox lasts:

As a general rule of thumb, we recommend getting Botox every 3-4 months to maintain smooth, consistent results. This keeps your muscles relaxed enough to prevent lines from coming back, but not so often that you’re overdoing it.

That said, some people prefer a more natural look and opt to stretch treatments a bit further.

Regular Botox treatments can “train” your muscles to be less active, which means your results may last longer the more consistently you get it. That’s one reason many clients find they can eventually stretch out appointments to every 4-5 months without losing their results.

Can I get Botox too often?

Yes, it’s possible to overdo it. If you get Botox too frequently, your muscles could become resistant or weaker over time, and you might lose some of the subtle movement that keeps your face looking natural.

We always aim for balance. Our team helps you find the right schedule based on your goals, your facial anatomy, and how your body responds to treatment.

It’s my first time. What should I expect?

If it’s your first time getting Botox, we typically recommend starting with a light dose to see how your muscles respond. From there, we adjust the dosage to meet your needs more precisely.

What if I stop getting Botox?

No worries. Botox isn’t a permanent change. If you stop getting injections, your muscles will gradually regain movement, and lines may return over time. However, you won’t look worse than before; your skin will just return to its natural state.

What can I do to make my results last longer?

There’s no magic formula that will make your results last longer, but there are a few things you can do to squeeze out every bit of effectiveness. Here are a few simple tips:

Botox isn’t one-size-fits-all. Your ideal schedule depends on your age, lifestyle, goals, and how your body reacts. For most, visiting Love Your Body Medical Spa every 3- 4 months hits the sweet spot, but we’re here to help you decide what’s best.
