Is It Safe to Get Dermal Fillers and Botox® Together?

Is It Safe to Get Dermal Fillers and Botox® Together?

These days, there are almost too many ways you can address cosmetic concerns. From lasers to injections, trying to decide which treatment is right for you can be overwhelming. The good news is that you may have more flexibility than you realize.

Here, Dr. Divina Averilla and our team at Love Your Body Medical Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada, answer your questions about combining treatments to get the best results.

Is it safe to combine Botox® and dermal fillers?

It may be likely that you have more than one cosmetic concern that requires more than one type of treatment. But do you have to choose, or is it safe to get different treatments at the same time?

The answer is a resounding yes! It’s absolutely safe to combine Botox and dermal fillers — in fact, we recommend it. When you see a trained professional at Love Your Body Medical Spa, you can rest assured that you’re in good hands.

We can safely combine Botox and dermal fillers because they use vastly different ingredients to address different types of facial lines, folds, and wrinkles.

Botox involves injecting small amounts of a neurotoxin to temporarily prevent your muscles from moving and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by your expressions.

Dermal fillers, on the other hand, consist of a gel-like substance that can fill out your facial contours and smooth out lines, adding volume to your skin with hyaluronic acid. What’s hyaluronic acid? It’s a substance found naturally in your skin that helps your skin maintain its shape and retain moisture.

Here’s what you can expect from both of these popular treatments.

Botox

Botox Cosmetic is one of the industry’s longest-standing solutions to wrinkles. It works best against dynamic wrinkles, which are lines that show up when you make a facial expression. We use Botox injections to reduce wrinkles in your forehead, between your eyebrows, and around your eyes and mouth.

The full effects from the neurotoxin injections usually appear 3-5 days after your treatment, with the best results revealing themselves over the first week or two. Typically, the results from Botox last around 3-4 months before you need a touch-up injection.

Dermal fillers

When you’re younger, you have all the hyaluronic acid you need to enjoy soft, supple skin. Over time, your skin gradually loses its stores of hyaluronic acid, causing it to sag and wrinkle.

That’s where dermal fillers come in. We offer Juvéderm® fillers, which boast the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market. These dermal fillers, applied precisely where you need them, plump your skin and restore lost volume.

The added volume in dermal fillers reduces the appearance of static wrinkles, which are lines caused by changes in your skin that appear on your face even when it’s at rest, making them the perfect complement to Botox injections.

Results from dermal fillers are noticeable almost immediately, and they can last anywhere from six months to a couple of years.
