Why You Should Always Let a Licensed Physician Perform Aesthetic Services

When your car breaks down, you immediately scroll through your mental list of all the people you know who can fix it. Chances are, though, that you go with the mechanic who has the best reviews and the most experience (even if it costs you a little extra).

If you’d only let a professional work on your car, why wouldn’t you do the same for your body?

We take what we do very seriously at Love Your Body Medical Spa, which is why we’re sharing with you a few reasons we think you shouldn’t let just anyone perform your aesthetic and cosmetic services.

Compliance with state law

Did you know that Nevada state law requires that only licensed medical professionals can administer cosmetic injectables? That means that only physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners can inject Botox®, dermal fillers, and other injectables.

If you’re getting aesthetic services from someone who doesn’t have the appropriate letters after their name, they’re practicing medicine illegally, and you shouldn’t allow them to care for you.

Liability issues

As with any procedure, liability — or who’s responsible if something goes wrong — is always an issue. A true physician has a vested interest in the outcome of every procedure, but more importantly, they care about your safety, comfort, and well-being.

Some who offer aesthetic services but are not trained physicians may not adhere to the same standards.

Avoiding complications

There’s a reason we conduct a thorough review of your health history before recommending or performing any procedure. Trained physicians know there are always risks for adverse reactions, and they know how to both avoid them and respond to them if the worst happens.

Training matters

Even though aesthetic services appear uncomplicated, they actually require extensive knowledge of anatomy. In fact, even minor errors in a Botox injection can have disastrous results, including difficulty swallowing and drooping facial features.

You want someone who has a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology and knows exactly where to place the injection to avoid complications.

High-quality ingredients

Some aesthetic service facilities out there promise premium services at cheap prices. What you may not realize is many of those discount providers use ingredients like liquid cement, animal fat, or knock-off products to cut costs. Beyond delivering poor results, this can jeopardize your health.

Not salesman

No two patients are the same, which means no two patients need the same dosage or frequency of treatments. Some untrained estheticians might try to sell you more products or more treatment sessions than you need.
